Advent in the mountains Pyhrn-Priel
Tradition - nature - regional delicacies - sea of lights
The cold season is here again and with it the traditional mountain Advent, which warms the hearts and makes not only children's eyes light up. Atmospheric Christmas markets, festive concerts and many magical moments await you in the villages of the Pyhrn-Priel holiday region!
Brightly lit "Standln" - lovingly decorated with handicrafts and homemade gifts - invite you to go on a pre-Christmas shopping spree in the town centres, baroque monastery rooms and other atmospheric places. Those in search of Father Christmas will find what they are looking for in Santaland.
Unique and recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage site: Alpine tradition comes to life at the historic Niglou parade in Windischgarsten, when angels, the Nigolo Lord and Nigolo Woman, night watchmen, Klaubauf and the Habergoaß parade through the festively decorated alleyways and streets and St Nicholas hands out presents.
The anticipation of Christmas can really be experienced at the Bergadvent. Crackling fireplaces, the tantalising aroma of mulled wine, punch and chestnuts, home-baked biscuits, raclette and Kletzenbrot as well as the sounds of various music groups tempt you to nibble and savour.
