Advent in the mountains Pyhrn-Priel
Tradition - nature - regional delicacies - sea of lights
Alpine tradition comes alive when angels, Nigoloherr and Nigolofrau, night watchmen, Klaubauf and the Habergoaß parade through the festively decorated alleys and streets during the historic Nigoloumzug in Windischgarsten. Children's eyes light up when St. Nicholas hands out presents.
Brightly lit stalls in the villages and in the baroque state rooms of Spital am Pyhrn, lovingly decorated with handicrafts and homemade gifts, invite you to enjoy an atmospheric shopping spree.
Visitors reach Advent am Kogel on foot by torchlight. The sounds of the various music groups and the melodious beat of the blacksmith's hammer can be heard from afar. Crackling fireplaces and the tempting smell of mulled wine, bratwurst and the like invite you to spend some contemplative hours at the Kogel. Children can build their snowman or have a snowball fight far away from the traffic, while their parents listen to the sound of the hunting horns.
For the first time, there is also a Santaland to experience at the Pyhrn Pass, where the Christmas house illuminated with countless lights will be the temporary home of Santa Claus and his Secret Santa during the Advent weekends.
The anticipation of Christmas can of course also be enjoyed in culinary terms at the Bergadvent. The aroma of roast sausages, "Holzknechtnocken", chestnuts, raclette and "Kletzen" bread, biscuits and punch and mulled wine will tempt you to nibble and savour.
