unique and eventful - historical Niklo game (UNESCO heritage) in the center of Windischgarsten | Moving through the village and performing the special customs on the stage in the arcade court by the local traditional costume club

The Niglo procession on the eve of Saint Nicholas Day ( 6 December) is an annual fixture of the season of Advent in Windischgarsten . It consists of about 30 people : the night watchman , the Nigloherrn ( a gentleman in urban clothing ) and the Niglofrau ( a younger woman with white dress and crown) , several Nigeln ( wrapped in fur Krampus with larvae to the body clamps and birch rod bearing ) , several angels , the devil, Saint Nicholas , and various minor characters . The colorful society gathered at the home house and then moves through the market in the town hall courtyard , where present , the characters on the stage and the Nigloherr and Nicholas ever sing a poem. Finally, the children present will receive a small gift. The Niglo - move is part of the cultural heritage of Windischgarsten and is practiced in this form there.
