Cycling in the Pyhrn-Priel holiday region - a pleasure for all the senses

A well-rounded experience

The Pyhrn-Priel holiday region is a true Eldorado for all those who enjoy travelling on two wheels. Whether you are an experienced mountain biker or just want to cycle leisurely through the countryside - you are guaranteed to find the right route here. The region offers an impressive variety of landscapes, from majestic mountains to dense forests and idyllic lakes.

Cycling and mountain biking is permitted from 15 April to 31 October from 2 hours after sunrise to 1 hour before sunset and only on marked routes. Some cycle paths are also designated as hiking trails or bridleways. Always be aware of oncoming hikers or horse riders!

Mountain bikers, racing cyclists and e-bikers have around 1,000 kilometres of cycle paths to discover. Whether mountains, passes, trails or leisure cycle paths - in the Pyhrn-Priel holiday region there is something for everyone at different levels of difficulty. The Wurbauerkogel bike park and the Wurzeralm single trail provide an extra dose of adrenaline.
A treat for e-bikers: the Pyhrn-Priel Panorama and the multi-day Traunviertel Tour.

For sporty (e-)mountain bikers, we recommend the Trans National Park with 6 daily stages.

Yes, definitely! The Pyhrn-Priel holiday region is a little paradise for mountain bikers. The mountain bike trails vary from easy to difficult, and some routes can be combined.
Downhillers get their money's worth, especially in the Wurbauerkogel bike park and on the Wurzeralm single trail (red category).

Many accommodation and catering establishments in the region offer e-bike charging stations. There is also a network of public charging stations along the most popular cycle paths or in the villages. This also applies to most of the Bike & Hike exchange stations in the Pyhrn-Priel holiday region.

Don't forget to bring your own charging cable!

The best time for a cycle tour in the Pyhrn-Priel holiday region is the summer months from June to September. During this time, the weather is usually pleasantly warm and nature is at its most beautiful.
Please note that there may be snow at higher altitudes in May and October.

Yes, local providers organise guided bike tours. These are ideal if you want to get to know the region better or are looking for tips from experienced guides. Bike riding technique courses are also offered.

Yes, there are some family-friendly cycle paths that are also suitable for children. These paths are mostly flat and lead through beautiful landscapes. For example, the Steyrtal cycle path (R8) along the Steyr and the reservoir in Klaus an der Pyhrnbahn is ideal. There are rest areas and adventure stations along the way and you can take a short break for a swim. The Kalkalpen National Park cycle path (R31) is also suitable for children.

Plan your tour carefully and inform yourself about the current weather conditions. And don't forget to respect nature and don't leave any rubbish behind.
