4th World Cup in Hinterstoder (1994)

11.01.1994 Cool Norwegian prevents ÖSV double victory

Around 700 people were on duty to ensure perfect conditions when the men returned to Hinterstoder. On the pimply racetrack, the 15,000 visitors experienced a thrilling giant slalom in which the cool Norwegian Kjetil Andre Aamodt was the big spoilsport from Austrian point of view, as the ÖSV hopes Christian Mayer and Richard Kröll finished second and third.

The close Ok team to chairman Rudi Rohregger, Sigi Knewasser, Horst Hackl, Gert Fritsch, Helmut Mayr and Othmar Mühlberger had for the race a total budget of 5 million shillings available with the also a new start house and a press center was financed in the finish. The new direction of the ÖSV also included a good mix of show and sport, which should attract even more spectators to Stodertal. For the first time, a 30m2 video wall in the finish area was available for visitors. By the way, the entrance fees were 150 schillings.

FIS Safety Director Günther Hujara received the highest praise after the successful race day, "After this event, the World Cup Committee will hardly be able to ignore Hinterstoder in the future."
