9th World Cup in Hinterstoder (2016)
Three exciting World Cup races, 42,000 enthusiastic spectators, hundreds of volunteer helpers, exuberant party atmosphere and impressive pictures from Hinterstoder / Upper Austria, who went around the world. That was the Audi Fis World Cup 2016 in Hinterstoder.
In 2016 it was time again: The alpine FIS Ski World Cup of the men stopped in the Pyhrn-Priel sports arena. Exciting races and around 40,000 fans made the weekend a unique celebration. From the 26th to the 28th of February, a Super-G and two Giant Gorges of the men took place in Hinterstoder.
However, the success story of alpine ski World Cup Hinterstoder began as early as 1986 - ie more than 30 years ago. After eight World Cup competitions on the Bärenalm, the alpine Ski World Cup circus moved to the center of Hinterstoder in 2006. From now on, none other than the native Pankrazer and former ski downhill world champion Hannes Trinkl is the namesake of the new World Cup track. This experienced its baptism of fire in 2011 with a men's Super-G - and ensured again this year for exciting races. The challenging and state-of-the-art racetrack has a total length of 2250 meters, an average incline of 35 percent, and steep slopes with slopes of up to 60 percent.
It was not just the race at the most recent stop of the Alpine Ski World Cup in the Stodertal community that made the event so exciting - there was also entertainment off the piste. A rich supporting program with national and international ski and music stars brought the audience "on course".
