Due to the intense rain and snowfall during the night from Thursday to Friday, the Alpine combination had to be canceled on Friday. All efforts by the 150 slope workers, who worked from 4:00 a.m. to prepare the slope for racing, were unfortunately in vain. Only thanks to the good cooperation of the Austrian Ski Association, under President Prof. Peter Schröcksnadel, who is willing to pay the additional costs and the good cooperation with the organizing committee, the USC Raiffeisen Hinterstoder and WSV Windischgarsten, the ORF, EBU, the HIWU Bergbahnen and the Holiday region Pyhrn-Priel, it was possible to postpone the original program, which now extends until Monday, March 2nd.

FIS race director Markus Waldner thanked the organizers and all those responsible for the fact that the move could be carried out in such a short time and without complications. Austria is a role model in the international Ski World Cup in this direction.

Corona virus: Upper Austria is prepared

Transparency, information and optimization of the coordination processes “

In Upper Austria, we took the Corona Virus seriously from the very first minute - we are well prepared for an emergency.

This was also demonstrated last night when a coach that came over Italy was checked in Allhaming due to misleading information from the tour group. By consulting the general medical emergency service, the situation was quickly clarified and the bus was able to continue its journey. This case confirms the good preparation and cooperation of the rescue, police and fire brigade organizations together with the Red Cross and the authorities, ”emphasizes Health Officer LH Deputy Mag.a Christine Haberlander.

LH- Deputy in Haberlander underlines the importance of the following measures: “Now it is particularly important to inform the population about current developments and the correct way to deal with suspected illness, because transparency provides security. So if you have flu-like signs, stay at home and call health number 1450. This number has already established itself in the past few months as an information station for health issues, and in 1450 the topic of corona was added and provides the best possible information. The employees of the health hotline know what to do and initiate the help that is needed ”.

"It is also important in this phase to have an intensive exchange between hospitals and authorities. On my behalf, State Medical Director Dr. Palmisano immediately to two work meetings. On the one hand, the representatives of the hospitals are invited to exchange views on current developments. Upper Austria's hospitals are already very well coordinated and prepared for an emergency of the Corona virus at any time. Nevertheless, it is important to me that the procedure in an emergency is discussed and re-sharpened here, ”said the health officer.

“In addition to the hospitals, we will also invite the district chiefs and men to a chat. This is primarily about information on how to deal with a suspected Corona case at the district level. In any case, from today's perspective, it is not necessary to cancel planned events, "said the health officer.

Just as important as the cooperation of the system partners is the regular coordination of the LH deputy with the federal ministries, the governor and the state medical director. Current situations and procedures are discussed here on an ongoing basis.

But all other system partners are also prepared for emergencies. The health officer checked this out about yesterday evening when the crisis team of the Upper Austrian Red Cross met and exchanged views with the staff about the current situation and procedures.

“At this moment, I would like to thank all the emergency organizations that help around the clock when they are needed. Yesterday's example showed that Upper Austria is prepared for an emergency. Nevertheless, I hope that this will not happen, ”explains Haberlander.
