Free guided hut tours on the open days!
For over 300 years, the Bärenriedlau Hut has been enthroned in the Sengsengebirge at 1,334 m above sea level. It provided accommodation for shepherds and hunters, later even for the heir to the throne Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his hunting party. The impressive historical furnishings and pencil graffiti on the walls and doors are reminders of this time. The hut was extensively renovated in 2014.
The hut can be visited on open days. It is particularly interesting to see how the once aristocratic hunting grounds around the Bärenriedlau have developed into a wildlife sanctuary in the national park.
