Maundy Thursday

All in honor of the church musician Balduin Sulzer, who died in 2019

In the spirit of the church musician Balduin Sulzer, who passed away in 2019, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday are dedicated to music in Spital/Pyhrn. For both feast days, the composer has created a proprium – featuring interesting instrumentation, particularly with the xylophone playing an important role. Characteristic of both compositions is their clarity and musical authenticity in referencing the traditional events of the Last Supper and the suffering and death of Jesus Christ, while never losing sight of the hopeful, unexpected, and unusual.
