Information about the Bike & Hike routes

Bike & Hike routes combine the best of both worlds: Cycling and hiking. You cycle to a changing station, park your bike safely and continue hiking from there. This combination makes it possible to cover longer distances while exploring the diverse nature of the Pyhrn-Priel region.

  • Bicycle: A well-maintained bicycle is essential.
  • Helmet: A helmet is mandatory!
  • Sturdy shoes: Sturdy shoes are important for the hike. You will need mountain boots, especially for alpine hikes.
  • Basic fitness level: A certain basic fitness level is an advantage, especially if longer distances are planned.
  • Food and water: Take enough food and water with you. Don't forget rain and sun protection.
  • First aid kit: A first aid kit is recommended just in case.

The Pyhrn-Priel region has a well-developed network of signposted cycle and hiking trails. These routes are only marked in the Pyhrn-Priel hiking and cycling map with a special Bike & Hike symbol and often lead to idyllic mountain pastures and viewpoints.

The usual hiking and cycling signposting must be observed on site. The changing stations are signposted as such, have an overview board for the hiking routes and a bike stand to park your bike (bring your own lock!). You can charge your e-bike free of charge at most of the changing stations (bring your own charger!).

The offer ranges from easy tours for families to challenging routes for experienced mountain bikers and hikers. The levels of difficulty are usually listed in the Pyhrn-Priel hiking and cycling map or can be found in the descriptions here on the website.

Yes, e-bikes are ideal for bike & hike tours. They make it possible to cover longer distances and greater differences in altitude. This means that the subsequent hike can also be completed in good time.
