National Park Kalkalpen

What's up with a forest sea and moated castle? Why can a mountain be called "Spitzmauer" and a gorge "Vogelgesang"? Questions about questions, when dealing with the area in and around the Kalkalpen National Park ...

The Kalkalpen National Park with the largest forest region in Central Europe and the country's largest karst spring, the Pießling Ursprung in Roßleithen, is a paradise for nature lovers. A colorful mosaic of natural forests, scenic mountain peaks, hidden gorges and pristine mountain streams. If you want to escape the noise of everyday life and start looking for a unique flora and fauna, you should set out on a journey of discovery in the Kalkalpen National Park. The best is with trained national park guides who offer guided tours all year round to the natural wonders in the Kalkalpen National Park. From the birch cock ball and orchid blossom in the spring over summer game cherries, alpine and cave tours to Hirschbrunft and the autumn magic in Bodinggraben.

TIP: The glass panorama tower in the visitor center on the Wurbauerkogel near Windischgarsten guarantees a breathtaking panoramic view of the region's mountain panorama. The 21-meter-high tower provides a clear view of 21 "two-thousanders": Totes Gebirge, Sengsengebirge and Haller Walls are almost invisible here. The exhibition of the Kalkalpen National Park "Faszination Fels" presents extraordinary, remarkable and world-class flora and fauna above the tree line, while the panorama pelts also explain the surrounding mountain peaks.
