Open again in 2021!
The first and unique in this form, Poachers Museum St. Pankraz was 1998 national exhibition "Land of hammers". After this highly successful national exhibition was decided a continuation.
A private association and was founded in the former "Heustadl" the inn Steyrbrücke, the club Poachers Museum found a suitable location for the museum.
The well-known sociologist and cultural scientist Univ. Prof. Dr. Roland Girtler designed, and the puppeteer consultant Eva Bodingbauer, designed the exhibition.
The museum shows in an original way, as poaching in the Alpine area has arisen and with which had partly cruel punishments caught poachers expected. But it does not gloss over the kitschy poacher romance in home movies, in novels and in song lyrics.
The legendary Poachers Battle of Molln, in which four poachers lost their lives in 1919, is also shown in detail how the legend of the Bavarian poachers Jennerwein and the startling fate of 1982 by hunters from behind shot Pius Walder from East Tyrol.
In a multimedia presentation - "interviews with witnesses" - watch and listen to interviews with former poachers and a milkmaid - and find out that poaching not a romantic pastime but was often very tedious and unhealthy.
A very interesting part of the exhibition was set up in 2009.
"The noble dealing with the hunger and the fire pit" - shows what life was like around 1900.
The food was used sparingly and carefully.
The motto at that time was: "what mia hab'n selba, custom ma net kafa"
Again and again, changing special exhibitions enrich the ordinary exhibition.
At the museum shooting the poachers can'll suitability tested.
A photo wall invites you to be photographed as a poacher. (Not forget your camera)
For children there is a painting corner and
the poachers shop you will certainly find a "Mitbringsl" for children and adults.
The museum is currently being revised and will reopen in a new location in 2022.
The museum is currently closed and will be reopend in 2022 at a new location.
