The Alpineum, as a modern, award-winning exhibition house, is worth a visit at any time of the year. Here, you will receive background information about the history of the Stodertal Valley, the life-threatening work of the woodcutters, the mountaineering history of the Dead Mountains, and the development of skiing from its beginnings to the World Cup.
The modern museum building – built in 1998 – already gives a hint from the outside that no dusty “local museum” awaits the visitor here, but rather historical and current videos and acoustic effects. Establishing connections from the past to the present is the fundamental concept of the Alpineum, with its extremely extensive collection of historical and contemporary exhibits. The past is brought to life in an entertaining manner through engaging text and image design, making it an experience for the visitor. Prepare to be surprised.
By the way, the Alpineum was awarded one of the best exhibition houses in Europe at the “Museum of the Year Award 2000.” In addition to the permanent exhibition, the Alpineum continually surprises with successful special exhibitions on a wide variety of topics.

ALPINE MOMENTS
In the footsteps of E.T. Compton
Photography and painting by Michael Zacek
Michael Zacek captures the archaic effect of nature in a mood-enhancing and technically sophisticated manner. He personally explores all the subjects presented and initially captures the mountain world with his camera. Through intensive revision with strong texture and color application, three-dimensionality is regained. The resulting spatial "real view" makes his works appear deep and vivid. On the occasion of the 175th anniversary of E.T. Compton's birth, Michael Zacek follows the paths and motifs of the alpine painter.
